HOUSING-FOCUSED SERVICES

Supporting Your Path to Stable Housing

Providing youth with the support they need to obtain and maintain stable housing is a core focus. Our housing services include:

  • Housing navigation and advocacy: Dedicated staff (“housing navigators”) guide youth through the Coordinated Entry system for homeless services. We help young people complete housing assessments, fill out applications for emergency shelter or transitional housing (such as the NEST shelter), and follow up on referrals.
  • Case management for housing stability: Youth receiving housing support (up to 36 per year) receive intensive case management to address barriers to housing – e.g., resolving past evictions or criminal record issues, budgeting for rent, and developing life skills for independent living.
  • Rapid Re-Housing & rental assistance: Subject to funding, YES connects eligible youth to Rapid Re-Housing programs (short-term rental subsidies paired with support). In the past, YES has directly housed youth through such programs and continues to partner with agencies that provide housing slots specifically for youth.
  • Landlord and family mediation: We can intervene or advocate on a youth’s behalf with potential landlords, or mediate with family members when a safe reunification or couch-surfing arrangement might prevent homelessness.
  • Warm hand-offs to long-term housing: When youth secure placements (e.g., in public housing or adult programs), YES ensures they have the essentials for move-in and remains a support, welcoming them back for alum services or if crises recur.

We understand that stable housing is fundamental to your growth, health, and well-being. At YES, you will find empathetic, responsive support to make your goal of stable housing a reality.
